Who Put That Skip-Bin There?

That’s what the driver of this Ferrari 458 Italia  said when he crashed into it.

Ferrari 458 Italia Crashes in Madrid Spain

A red Ferrari 458 Italia has been left mangled and wrecked after the male driver and owner crashed the Italian exotic into a skip bin in Madrid, Spain.

Interestingly, following the crash, the driver fled possibly because he had been drinking and didn’t want to be fined for drinking and driving. However, the man was found hours later.

According to witnesses on the scene, the Ferrari 458 Italia was speeding through the streets and after trying to avoid another crashed car, the driver lost control and crashed into the skip bin.

Understandably, the damage is quite extensive. The front end has been absolutely destroyed as the car went head on into the skip. The left rear wheel is also severely damaged suggesting that the 458 Italia hit something before the skip with its tail.

The Green Merc Wins This Race

It’s an expected result though. After all, it costs more than half a million dollars.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG electric car will smoke a Tesla Model S in a speed contest, or even a gas-powered AMG weighing 1,000-pounds less, but then it ought to for $550,000 and up.

At any rate, the folks at Top Gear who once staged a Tesla Roadster-runs-out-of-juice fake episode took a shining to the German EV.

This one is a fun plaything for the wealthy, and not likely to reduce the world’s CO2 and petroleum dependence, but that’s not the point.

Basically, it shows what can be done with electric drive, and even at this stage, the potential is there – enough even to evoke praise from the unrepentant petrol heads at Top Gear.

Ride: VECTOR M12

In this episode of Rockstar Rides, DtRockstar1 takes a ride in an extremely rare Vector M12. Just 14 of them were made, and two of them make an appearance in this video. This car was made by Megatech after Jerry Wiegert was out of the Vector Corporation. Loosely based on the Vector Avtech WX-3, the M12 had a 5.7 liter V12 from a Lamborghini Diablo producing 490 horsepower.

What Colour Would You Like?

The first Ford was available in any colour as long as it was Black.  You needed a good sense of humour to actually drive a Model T, but these days, none is required to drive a McLaren P1.  Just Deep Pockets!

A few days ago the owner of McLaren San Francisco received his Volcano Red McLaren P1 and funnily a lucky British owner took delivery of his volcano red McLaren P1 at almost the same time. This first volcano ved P1 on British plates has now been spotted on the roads of Knightsbridge in London.

Can you imagine the Bond villain GoldFinger in this?   What about you?

What would you do with your money if you were super-rich and didn’t care about what others think? Would you hide it away from the world or would you flaunt it about with an expensive and in-your-face car? Could you accept the gazes you get in the street while driving a huge piece of automotive overkill?

BMW M4 Safety Car Steals The Show.

BMW almost stole the show at Doha….with it’s safety car

After showing us the brand new Safety Car for the 2014 MotoGP season in online photos, this weekend BMW officials brought the M4 Coupe out for live viewing and live photos at the first race of the season, the Qatar Grand Prix in Doha.

This marked the 16th season as “Official Car of MotoGP” for BMW and the continuos collaboration between the Germans and the MotoGP World Championship.

For this is a car that will run with the fastest bikes in the world, special changes were done to it, to better cope with its responsibility as Safety Car. Therefore, the M4 Coupe received a full body wrap with the traditional M stripes and stickers from the sponsors and a light bar on the roof.

Furthermore, a complete M Performance kit was added on the outside including a front bumper lip, new side skirts, new wheels, carbon fibre mirror covers, rear diffuser and blacked out kidney grilles.

Inside, all the seats have been removed and just a pair of Recaro racing seats was added up front, fitted with Schroth belts. To make sure the sound will match the look, the stock exhaust was replaced by an Akrapovic titanium one that sounds more than enticing.

Apart from the M4 Coupe, the competition will also get an M3 Sedan Safety Car from BMW alongside an M5 and two M550d xDrive Touring cars as medical units.

“BMW M is proud to be part of the MotoGP success story for the 16th season running. We are delighted that the BMW M4 Coupé experienced its baptism of fire as a safety car out on the racetrack,” said Thomas Schemera, Director of Sales and Marketing BMW M GmbH.

“Four generations of the BMW M3 have combined motorsport genes and unlimited suitability for daily use into one highly emotional overall concept. The BMW M4 Coupé is a natural progression of these fundamental ideas. We are certain that this model will set new standards with regard to the overall concept, precision and agility,” he added.
