Geneva to Unveil 2015 Audi TT Surface

The Audi TT is a cult classic.

” In 11 days, Audi will officially reveal the hotly anticipated 2015 Audi TT Coupe that will step into its third generation, at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show

To sate enthusiasts, a few design sketches of the next gen Audi TT have surfaced online which gives us a clear idea as to how the compact sports car is bound to look like. By the looks of it, the design is promising, to say the least.

To the average eye, the next gen TT is a step up from the previous gen in terms of design. But, an Audi enthusiast can make out some of the design elements that hark back to the classic design of the first generation TT, launched in 1998. Although the car borrows design elements from its grand-daddy, it’s not curvy and chic but more dynamic and powerful than the outgoing model. Complimenting the exterior is a sporty looking interior that Audi showcased at CES 2014.

We’ll be covering the 2014 Geneva Motor Show live from the show floor. So, it wouldn’t take too long before we finally get to see it in metal.

There"s Nothing Subtle About This Chevy.

The Chevy Camaro has never been a shrinking violet.

6 Things You Need to Know About the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R

There is nothing subtle about the resurrected 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. It is a pure hammer, a mighty weapon of patriotic fury with but one mission: go fast as hell around a track. There’s a 7.0-liter LS7 V-8 stuffed under its hood. There are myriad exterior bits intended to turn airflow into grip for meaty 305/30ZR-19 Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R rubber. Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes are standard, while the air conditioning and more than one audio speaker are options. Inside are manual Recaro seats, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and a lot less sound deadening. Hell, even the rear window glass is thinner just to save a few pounds. And that’s just the streetable versionthe Z/28.R race car we’re here to discuss takes the fanatical pursuit of speed to another level. Stevenson Motorsports and CKS Autosport have prepped Z/28.R racers for the GS class in IMSA’s Continental Tires SportsCar Challenge. Their maiden race was a support event for the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona called the—ahem—BMW Performance 200. To learn more about the new race car, we turned to Lisa Talarico, Chevy’s program manager for its IMSA entries, and found out just how much of the regular Z/28 makes it into the R. (Spoiler alert: It’s a lot.)

2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R 7.0-liter V-8 engine

1. The monster motor and gearbox are stock.

There’s 505 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque living inside the all-aluminum V-8, which is fitted with a dry-sump lubrication system from the factory—the only change made for the race car is a different oiling tank. Just one transmission is available on the Z/28, a Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual capable of handling 600 lb-ft, and it goes straight from assembly line to the track. If anything, this proves just how much the R version was kept in mind when developing the $75,000 street Z/28.

2. The differential is also stock.

It’s a Torsion limited-slip design that forsakes the clutch packs often found in LSDs for a helical gear set. Talarico notes that this “makes it easier for the drivers to get the torque to the ground,” which we’ll note is pretty important for racing.

2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.R

3. There was no need to fiddle with the aero package.

Chevrolet often touts that the stock Z/28 aerodynamic kit was an important element that allowed an example to scorch the Nürburgring Nordschleife for a 7:37.40 lap—in the wet. So it follows that it needed no changes in the transformation to Z/28.R. TO drive home the point, Talarico pointed out to us “the production splitter, rear spoiler adjustable wicker bill, belly pan, wheel flares, rocker panels, and the hood extractor vent.”

4. The Brembo carbon brakes had to go.

The stock carbon-ceramic discs (measuring 15.5 by 1.4 inches up front and 15.3 by 1.3 at the rear) make the street Z/28 capable, Chevy says, of smashing your brain into the inside of your skull at 1.5 g under deceleration. They also, of course, save weight. But they had to go because of IMSA’s racing rules, which dictate rotors that would be at home in the Iron Age.

5. Only GM engineers likely would be able to spot the suspension differences.

The spec sheet for the factory Z/28 lists struts up front and a multilink setup out back, and that’s what you’ll find in the racer, although it’s tweaked a bit. Talarico explains: “We’re running the stock suspension points and pretty much the same stock suspension except for some bushing changes we had to make for endurance racing. The arms are stock pieces outside of some small changes that are unique to our style of racing.” Chevrolet claims the stock suspension is good for 1.08 g in cornering—we’d love to find out what sort of grip the Z/28.R can deliver.

6. Out goes that one radio speaker.

As sparse as the stock Z/28’s interior is, most of it has to be stripped out for racing. The Z/28.R gets its own race seat, a set of critical instrumentation, and a Pratt & Miller–developed roll cage that adds critical chassis stiffness.

During the Z/28.R’s maiden race—aptly named, as BMW M3s dominated the 2.5-hour event—the cars proved slightly slower than the leaders. But Chevy has until March 15 and the second race of the season, the 12 Hours of Sebring, to find the pace. Anyone want to bet against this thing?

The Macan...The Latest Porsche.

The newest edition to the Porsche family.

Porsche_Macan_review

Smaller and less garish than the Cayenne, the Porsche Macan is based on the same underpinnings as the Audi Q5

What is it?

It’s the latest addition to the Porsche line-up; a compact SUV that’s based on the Audi Q5.

Porsche has worked its magic on the underpinnings – tinkering with or replacing two-thirds of the components – to create a car that it calls ‘the only sports car in its segment.’

From the off it’s available in S, Diesel S or Turbo variants, boasting anywhere from 255bhp in the diesel to 394bhp in the flagship Turbo.

Once you’ve picked your engine there are some chassis options to choose from, like steel springs, PASM active suspension or air suspension. You can boost performance even further with a Sport Chrono pack (knocking 0.2 seconds from the 0-62mph time) or Porsche Torque Vectoring.

All Macans come as standard with four-wheel drive and a seven-speed PDK gearbox.

The McLaren P1 Review (Video)

Great Read. Great Video of this Great Car in a Great City.

” It’s that time again – the new /Drive Chris Harris On Cars video is out, and he’s driving a McLaren P1  on Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Drop everything and watch it. Now.

Starting off with a bit of town driving in urban Abu Dhabi, Chris discovers that the P1 is a comfortable and usable car, but an absolute animal should the driver decide to put his/her foot down a bit. Then, of course, it’s off to one of the coolest tracks in the world, Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi, for a bit of the usual hooning and a taste of the P1′s infamous mind-recalibrating speed. 0-186mph in 16.5 seconds.

“It’s a new thing” is probably a fairly comprehensive quote to take away from the video. It seems to have been proven time and time again that the P1 really is in a league of its own.

New Pagani Variant Coming To Geneva?

This is shaping up to be one very mouth-watering Show.

“It was three years ago that Pagani introduced the Pagani Huayra. And now it has been rumoured that the company will either be bringing a Huayra S or a Huayra Roadster. If they are deciding to go in order then we can expect the Huayra S as the Zonda S came before the Zonda Roadster.

1

If the Roadster does make an appearance, we’d imagine that the gullwing doors will be removed but it would be interesting to see if the car will come with or without a roof. The attached rendering by Wildspeed can give us a slight idea of what to expect. However if a roadster was to make a debut we would have mostly likely seen test mules by now. Not to mention that customers will certainly not be happy to see a convertible version when there is already a three year waiting list for the current Pagani Huayra! What do you guys think will make an appearance?

Ferrari Wins Again

The cars are all winners. But did you know the Brand itself is a winner as well?

“Brand Finance awards Ferrari second successive year

Maranello, 18 February – Once again this year, Ferrari is the strongest brand in the world. That is the finding of Brand Finance, the British company, a leader in brand evaluation, which today published the annual Global 500 report.ferrari store

Calculated on the basis of criteria such as financial revenue, but also elements such as fame, customer loyalty and the quality of human resources, the classification saw the Prancing Horse brand take the prize ahead of international colossi such as Coca-Cola, Goole, Hermes and Disney.

“I am pleased and proud of this recognition, which we have been given for the second consecutive time,” said Luca di Montezemolo, in Modena for the reopening ceremony for the Museo Casa Natale Enzo Ferrari di Modena. “I am particularly pleased the announcement was made today, as we remember the anniversary of the birth of our Founder and just as we are approving at the end of our Board Meeting this afternoon, record financial results for 2013, and great efforts in terms of technological investment.”

Ferrari Wins Again

The 2015 McLaren 650S

This is expected to be another star at Geneva.

“The 650S is officially an additional model in McLaren’s growing portfolio and the 12C, which launched the brand’s bid to compete with Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Porsche at the top of the supercar league, continues to be available. The 650S is more powerful and more expensive, but given the average 12C buyer’s expenditures on extras and personalization, the price hike isn’t likely to be a disincentive. Now those shoppers surely will go for the new model.2015-mclarer

Supercar buyers are a fickle lot, easily tempted by the latest and greatest. While the 12C, originally called the MP4-12C, matched the Ferrari 458 in everything other than heritage and the sheer look-at-me factor—and beat it in a comparo—newcomers like the 458 Speciale and Lamborghini Huracán threaten to put it in the shade. The 650S puts its main message—650 PS, which is actually 641 horsepower—right in the name to advertise that it outguns the opposition. For now, at least.

Talking to McLaren’s forthright and enthusiastic engineering team, it becomes clear that the 650S is much more than a 12C with more grunt. It is, as one put it, “the car we would like to have built in the first place.” A brand-new car company, even with the obsessive standards of McLaren, is bound to make some mistakes. Early 12Cs had niggles with navigation and audio systems, among others. It soon became clear that its plain, uncluttered interior disappointed gadget-freaks and a moneyed customer base who expected something more visually exciting.

When the 12C Spider was launched in 2012, it incorporated a series of modifications encouraged by customer comments and service experience. McLaren then took the unusual step of retrofitting these changes, as well as the software upgrade providing another 25 horsepower, to earlier coupes.

In the meantime, McLaren introduced the P1 hybrid hypercar, all 375 examples of which have been sold. At the time of its introduction, design director Frank Stephenson said that the P1’s dramatically functional shape, rather than the bland styling of the 12C, showed McLaren’s future design direction.

The 12C’s style was fixed when Stephenson, an American and a graduate of the Art Center School of Design, joined McLaren, and he has been waiting for new products to apply his vision for a more technical look befitting road cars from a company that also fields a leading Formula 1 team. He won’t thank us for suggesting that the 650S is a 12C with a face lift, but that’s what it is. The new front end features the distinctive arcs of LED headlamps in the shape of the McLaren logo and enlarged air intakes—a purposeful familial nod to the P1—while the engine air ducts on the car’s flanks are altered and called out with a contrasting carbon-fiber panel. Big aerodynamic improvements are claimed, too, as the Woking-based operation says the reshaped body provides a 40 percent increase in downforce at 150 mph.

Underneath, the basic specification, size, and weight, is as the 12C but even the carbon-fiber MonoCell backbone has been tweaked (saving seven pounds from the original 176-pound chassis tub). Head of product development Mark Vinnels says that the 650S’s changes and improvements required fitting 25 percent new components versus the 12C.

Of course, being a McLaren, the emphasis is on driving. While 641 horsepower from the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-8 is important to keep ahead of the supercar opposition, Vinnels is prouder of the torque increase (from 443 lb-ft to a fat 500, available from 4000 rpm) which brings “a quite significant” performance improvement in real-world driving. The bump in twist is achieved by revisions to the cylinder heads, pistons, cooling system, and the variable valve timing. McLaren says that 0-to-60-mph acceleration now occurs in less than three seconds and 0 to 124 mph in 8.4. Maximum speed of 207 mph is unchanged from the 12C.

The seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox has been refined to improve drivability, shift smoothness, and outright performance. In Sport mode, the engine is directed to cut two cylinders for 30 milliseconds on part-throttle upshifts, to deliver aural delights; while in Track mode, “inertia push” is available at engine speeds above 5000 rpm, releasing the energy stored by overlapping the clutches on an upshift.

The running updates to the 12C’s dynamics have been universally praised, but the changes that accompany the 650S are said to allow for much higher cornering speeds and better turn-in response. Stiffer springs and dampers with new mounts have improved body control without affecting the ride comfort that sets the 12C apart from its rivals. Engineers claim that the car’s exclusive brake-steer feature is more effective, now operating at higher speeds and in mid-corner when necessary.

Formula 1’s drag-reduction system (DRS) influenced the revised operation of the deployable wing-slash-air-brake. It starts at an angle of 25 percent but levels out at higher speeds in straight-line driving or under full acceleration when Aero mode is selected.

The 12C offered optional Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires and carbon-ceramic brakes, but the 650S wears new V-spec asymmetric Corsas on forged aluminum wheels (19-inchers up front, 20-inchers in the rear) and has the carbon brakes as standard.

Criticisms of the 12C’s interior have been at least partially answered in the 650S by trimming the cabin in faux suede with contrast stitching and adding polished carbon-fiber to the steering wheel as well as the narrow center console. Full leather is available for a fee, as are convenience features such as an electrically adjustable steering column and a backup camera.

Although we have only seen the coupe so far, there will be a 650S Spider with a power-folding hardtop and, like the 12C Spider, it should deliver the same performance and dynamic qualities as the coupe.

Production of the 650S begins this month in the clinically clean conditions of the factory alongside the spectacular McLaren Technology Center in Woking, England. Its price will be announced at next month’s Geneva auto show where the car will make its in-the-metal debut. Initial indications are that 650S will be 10 percent costlier than the 12C, suggesting that sticker prices will start at about $265,000.

McLaren can say that the 650S is a standalone lineup if it likes, but at a price that close to the 12C’s, with so many shared components, it’s hard to believe the 650S is anything but the crown jewel of the 12C lineup wearing a clever disguise.

It’s catching on.

“Not long ago I bought you the attention of the Lamborghini inspired powerboat. Now there is an alternative “LaFerrari” inspired yacht which will be available to the public for just 4 million dollars. I know I say that like it’s not allot of money but what do you exactly get for the 4 million dollars?

laferrariboat

Well it does have X2 900hp engines powered by Volvo, but as you climb aboard this exclusive yacht the first thing you’ll notice is the care and attention to detail. The deck itself features a carbon fibre “tubular frame structure” deck reinforcement, Corezyn white marine gel-coat which is a military grade vinyl and crack resistance material. Even the engine room is fitted with diamond plate flooring panels.

rgeyreyyr

Nobody knows what the interior of this yacht will look like, but we do know that included in the price you get 5 flat screen TVs, several Blu-Ray players, a touchscreen pad to control all the lighting/onboard entertainment, teak decking throughout the boat with a built in settee and carbon fibre tables and overhead LED lights which gives it a nice ambiance. At the rear of the boat features a hydraulically operated garage door handy for keeping jet skis.
