How Much Is The Batmobile Worth?

A fascinating end to this chapter of Batman folklore. The Batmobile finds a new home.

“Having showed you the original 1966 Batmobile and reports of how it would be auctioned, its moment arrived at the Barrett-Jackson Auctions where the car made a record of the most expensive car ever at the Barrett-Jackson; it was auctioned for a thundering $4,620,000. The car is a one-off 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car originally built by Ford Motor Company lead stylists Bill Schmidt, Doug Poole Sr. and John Najjar.Batmobile

Ghia Body works from Turin Italy built it by hand in 1954 at a cost of $250,000. The car went on to be revealed at the 1955 Chicago Auto Show in a pearlescent Frost-Blue white paint finish. The final design project would later go to George Barris who was contracted by 20th Century Fox Television and William Dozier’s Greenway Productions.

How Much Is The Batmobile Worth?

Simon Cowell’s Black Bugatti Veyron

Who knew that there’d be so much money in finding the best Karaoke singers?  Simon Cowell has made a fortune out of it.

“ The unique black Bugatti Veyron once owned by Simon Cowell officially sold at the ongoing Barrett-Jackson auctions in Scottsdale. Going into the auction  with an unknown reserve price, it was anyone’s guess as to whether the car would actually sell and for how much.bugattiCowell

Unsurprisingly, the car did sell, with this stunning all-black Veyron selling for an impressive $1.375

For those that didn’t know, Cowell purchased his black Veyron new from Bugatti Beverly Hills in 2008 and in that time it has covered just 1,300 miles. The full black exterior and black interior also make this one of only a handful of black on black Veyrons in the United States and the entire world.

Making this Bugatti Veyron even more unique and worthy of the $1.375 million is that it is the first ever certified used Veyron sold. What this basically means is that the car was fully inspected by Bugatti engineers before hitting the auction block. Additionally, it came with four brand new tyres and a full one-year, extended factory warranty.

As for the powerplant, it is the same as all ‘regular’ 16.4 Veyrons. That means it is an 8.0-liter W16 engine combining four turbochargers. This powertrain can crank out an incredible 987 hp which in the Super Sport and Vitesse models, is increased to 1200 hp. The engine is then mated to one of the world’s best 7-speed automated dual-clutch transmissions driving all four wheels and helping to rocket the car to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 253 mph!

The Canadian (Budget) High Performance Machine

This is a design that raises the eyebrows.

“The Felino CB7 was officially unveiled recently at the Montreal International Auto Show 2014. It took four years to develop from the ground up and is billed as a high-performance (possibly) street legal track car.

felino-cb7-1-640x4803

Felino cars is the brainchild of Quebec racing star Antoine Bessette. The Felino CB7 is designed and built in Canada, yet Bessette’s company will market the car worldwide. The car will be purpose built for the track although the press release suggests it could also be street legal.

The unveiling comes at a time when Felino Cars is able to fabricate the various carbon fibre elements needed for production. It has therefore been announced that pre-production models will take to the track and the street in 2014.

The philosophy behind the Felino CB7 is to create a dedicated track car with a price tag starting at under $100,000. Although final pricing is yet to be announced, it is expected to reach this goal.

The Felino CB7 is rear wheel drive with a 6.2 litre V8 fitted at the front axle. Power is rated at 525 hp produced at 6,300 rpm, torque is 489 ft lb at 4,400 rpm. The power is driven via a six-speed manual gearbox or an optional sequential gearbox. Performance is yet to be announced.

Curb weight is relatively light at 1,135 kg with dimensions of 4.2 metres of length, 1.9 metres width and 1.1 metres in height. Weight distribution is a perfect 50/50 and both front and back independent suspension with double wishbones.

The front brakes discs measure 355 mm in diameter with 6-piston callipers and optional carbon fibre units. The rear brakes discs measure 355 mm diameter with 4-piston callipers and optional carbon fibre units. The front tires measure 245/40R18 with the rear tires measuring 315/30R18.

The design is pretty divisive. You either love or hate the extreme teardrop coupe look. The body panels are carbon fibre and composite

Love or hate it (how could anyone hate it?!!??), this Raging Bull is hard to ignore.

“At a meeting of the Lamborghini Club Singapore a very special looking Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder was on display, the reactions were very different on it, some really liked it while other actually really disliked it … one thing we can say about it is that this V10 is a one of a kind, highly customized Raging Bull.gallardo_spyder_widebody_by_super_modern

After doing a little research I found out who actually created this unique convertible … Super Modern Services based in Singapore, in fact this car already stirred up emotions when it was still black … wearing a custom made bodykit that made the front look like a Lamborghini Aventador … but that wasn’t even the most eye-catching feature of it … the paintjob was.

The exterior rear view mirrors and the front hood showed a very special finish, almost like fish scales, while a wide TriColore stripe was fitted in the middle … side skirts and a custom rear diffuser made the pre-2008 Gallardo Spyder look really different … but that just wasn’t enough for the owner … he went the extra Mile and completely transformed this V10 convertible.

Super Modern Services from Singapore went to work on this black Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder, creating a bespoke kit to transform this V10 into a rolling showcase of their top of the line work … wide wheels were installed (showing a Wald logo) and work began on creating the custom made wide body parts.

The already custom front bumper was even further modified, different side vents with additional fins and the original ‘canards’ on the side were removed and wider front fenders were perfectly ‘incorporated’ into the bumper while the side sills were replaced by wider units running into extremely wide rear wheel arches and a massive side air intake, note the front of the side sills show a vertical fin while the front fenders are actually so wide they don’t touch the doors anymore but feature an air vent … and another vertical fin, running down this time.

The rear wheel arches were made very wide and show a lot of lines, streaks and vents … one might state the design is a bit cluttered, but most of the lines actually do run into a molded in rear wing and the rear bumper. Around the back the entire rear section was highly modified too, the later 2009 model taillights were mounted in a rear fascia that shows Aventador influences, if you look closely at the rear you will notice the Lamborghini script is actually flanked by two special mounts … looking at the width of these mounts I can only imagine Super Modern Services is planning on a massive rear wing to be added soon.

To be honest the red and black paint does look rather good on this car, it emphasizes the very special design of the aerodynamic kit … and I for one prefer it to the full black livery the car had before … the rear bumper and lower diffuser is entirely finished in glossy black, and it holds a center mounted exhaust tip … which looks to be a fake, just for show. Note this is a pre-2008 Gallardo Spyder … these had only one exhaust pipe left and right.

Today this red and black Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder by Super Modern Services shows dual exhaust tips on either side … but only one of them is an actual exhaust, the second one is just for show … in the end this really is an impressive … show car.

You have to admit the amount of work, and costs that went into creating this one of a kind Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder can only be admired … if you like the result … or hate it … is a personal, subjective opinion … you can’t deny it is very special, and that is just what the owner was trying to achieve with this total customization.”

on the PlayStation 3. Dubbed the Racing Series, the new concept is based on the original concept but gets a boost in performance, a reduction in weight, and several styling upgrades. These include a fixed rear wing to increase downforce at hight speeds, red alloys, and conventional door mirrors replacing the original concept’s CCD cameras.

While the twin-turbo V8 has only received a 6 hp boost to 591 hp, the car’s overall weight has been reduced by 85 kg to 1,300 kg. The seven-speed dual-clutch box has been ditched in favor of a sequential transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. Gamers can take the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series for a virtual spin by entering the new Seasonal Event – available for a limited time only.

First Photos of Lamborghini Huracan

Huracan

Huracan2

Some individual at a private viewing event of the new Lamborghini Huracan managed to snap some pictures of the raging bull. Yes I know he/she was not meant to do this, but as a person who likes to provide breaking news and pictures, I felt I had to share these with you! This particular car is finished in Nero Noctis with yellow calipers and interior detailing. Not sure I would order one in black but it still looks epicly good!

World First 3-Motor Powertrain In 2014 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid.

More Electronics Than a Japanese Toilet?

Geneva. Famous for its wartime conventions, but more renowned these days for its motor conventions, “just played host to the biggest parade of amazing toys man has ever created. The price, beauty and power of these four-wheeled creatures is only exceeded by the money auto companies are going to make. The floor of the Geneva Motor Show was flooded with rich people, all there to pick and choose between the most exciting cars shown in a decade – the new super-Ferrari and super-McLaren being at the very top of the totem pole.

Yesterday, Ferrari said that it has received over 1,000 requests for brand new LaFerrari, even though Maranello will not build a single one over 499 and despite the fact that most have never driven the car. Multiplying the thousand strong demand by the €1.3 million official price tag, we end up with a figure well over a billion dollars ($1.7 billion right now), just for Ferrari. Even though they will only make half that because of the limited production, company representatives lead us believe the same powertrain used by the 963 HP LaFerrari will also be used by another car, likely either the F12 or the FF. Add to that whatever bucks Porsche and McLaren will make and I begin to see a brand new industry forming, one for electrified million dollar automobiles. After that, Toyota, BMW and Honda will fill in the niche right underneath the super stallions by 2015.

porsche 918 spyder

Within the next couple of years, the hybrid supercar market will grow from basically nothing to dictating the pace and direction normal car development takes. The way I see it, all cars might soon have a gas tank on one side and a socket on the other, so these billionaire toys are teaching us valuable lessons.

Beyond the simple performance numbers, there are other, hugely important aspects of the hybrid supercar market. For example, the real reason why Ferrari might have called their ultimate car “LaFerrari” is to link it with their very successful clothing and apparel line. Selling 499 Enzo successors is one thing, but selling thousands of watches, $100 shirts and LaFerrari keychains is just as lucrative.

“LaFerrari” looks so much better on an overpriced cellphone than “P1”, don’t you think so?

As stupid as branded T-shirts are, we’re still in the golden age of supercars, and we should welcome these cars as they deserve, by examining the performance aspect. People who don’t earn enough to buy the cars of their dreams naturally assume the world’s richest don’t care about fuel prices or consumption. That’s not true!

Branding supercars “hybrid” sounds like putting a ballroom dress on a bodybuilder, but it’s not. For years, V12 supercar owners have been dogging Lamborghini and Ferrari to make theme cars that use less fuel, no matter the price. It’s a matter of pride for them. Filling up your Enzo ever couple of hundred yards is, for lack of better word, insulting. Why? Because these people like to spend money not throw it away, of course.

While all men are created equal, some are more equal than others. The same can be said about the hybrid Ferrari and McLaren presented in Geneva. For example, the McLaren’s advanced electric motor also spools up the turbos sometimes and can move the P1 around tine totally silently on battery power alone. On the other hand, Ferrari said they didn’t want to make an electric car since that didn’t fit the company philosophy, so their system focuses on being powerful and light.

Porsche meanwhile is preparing its own hybrid supercar called the 918 Spyder, which has more electric motors than a Japanese toilet. Their system is all-wheel drive, very complicated and very efficient, creating supermini-like level of fuel consumption.

So, do all these complicated electronics actually make cars faster, or would be have been far better off using turbos and bigger engines. If you ask me if these are just marketing gimmicks, I will admit that it’s possible, but that’s what we said about KERS when it was introduced in F1 and we were wrong.

The complexity of these systems brings me to the final facet of the hybrid supercar market, which is also the most important. Marketing sells cars, and the way I see it, the longer the press release is, the cooler the car becomes. Even the richest of buyers will totally geek out over all the details, and even today, they will gladly believe their cars are close relatives of F1 racers.

I’m not suggesting that with two years, thousands of electric supercars will roam our streets. The day when Ferrari makes the 458 replacement with a plug is the day hell freezes over. What the P1, LaFerrari and 918 will do is ignite people’s imaginations and prompt Toyota or GM to make something similar at 1/20 the price for the mass market. By that time, it will be obvious that hybrid supercars are a mass market, but you heard it here first.”
